Reaching out!?

None of us choose what life deals us. We must find a way to cope and manage with the cards we are dealt.

At the age of 15 I began experiencing illnesses, some which never seemed to connect. I was told for years that there were no explanations, that I was just "unlucky" or it was just "one of those things" but fast forward 11 years and I'm here just turned 30, 6 surgeries later with 5 diagnosed conditions and further diagnosis' pending....

I have felt isolated, completely useless and entirely consumed in my hard reality and often I will try to justify or explain how it feels to be me. To try and find someone who truly understands or that can tell me I’m strong enough to live this life, something only I can know. Cruelly misjudged or compared to others as a fortunate one or an unfortunate one because everyone will have a different understanding of how it may feel to be YOU!

We are socially conditioned to often think success is measured based on the size of your bank balance, the number of social circles you have, the ability you have to be seen and approved of by others.  What is often overlooked is the ability to have a quality of life, one that isn't consumed by pain! One that isn't limited by pain flares and the inability to do more than is physically or mentally possible.

I have my good days and I have my bad... don’t we all!?

This is my space; this is anyone's space to share parts of your life that you may not feel you often have the platform to shout from. To celebrate the small victories that for those suffering from chronic pain can relate. This is a space to help raise awareness in that we are in fact not alone. We are not invisible, and we do have a life worth sharing about. We may not be able to compete in marathon runs or present to a huge room of people, but this is a safe space to use and to share and to relate so please feel free to share your journey as I share mine.

I have an autoimmune disease that prevents me from doing majority of what I want to do and today I am smiling because I put my socks on by myself!! :)
